A few weeks ago, we lost our precious little Keira. She came home with us 18 years ago to be a companion to “Dad” in his last years. He resisted at first, but one day said to me. “ I don’t know what I would have done without this little dog.” She then became my little sweetheart for the next 15 years. She would know when I was sad from the other end of the house and run into my arms and kiss me until I had to laugh. When she was a small pup, she was very active. I said “She will calm down eventually”. She didn’t until she began to age. Keira was so smart. She learned commands and tricks with ease, all for treats of course. She loved treats! She loved all people and would follow my little grandchildren all over the house right up until a few months ago. Keira could just look at you with her big eyes and you would just love her. She has brought much joy to our entire family, and we miss her so much. Especially me. I told her once that we were just two little old ladies, and now every little sound in the house I think is her and keep forgetting for a moment that she is not here. On the day I picked up her ashes, it was sunny and raining at the same time. I was driving so could not look, but I swear she sent me a rainbow. Run and jump little girl. We miss you so, but know you are in a good place and we will see you again someday. Love you little Keira xoxo Thank you to Lifting Stars and especially to Dr. Olivia who made those final moments as peaceful as possible.
