Pheobe

July 2025

With heavy hearts and endless gratitude, we say goodbye to our beloved Phoebe, who passed away peacefully in July 11/ 2025 at the age of sixteen. A short-haired calico with a multicoloured mustache and a mighty presence, Phoebe was more than a pet—she was our companion, our comfort, our gentle guardian, and our heart.
Phoebe was the queen of the castle, ruling her home with quiet dignity and a soft, knowing paw. She was sweet, sensitive, and deeply nurturing—a cat with an intuitive sense for family time and comfort. She always knew when to be close, watching over us with love, care, and that subtle feline grace that only she could manage.
Though soft and elegant, Phoebe had a spirited and playful soul. Her world was filled with toys—mice, rabbits, fish, an octopus, and even a magical unicorn—but none as important as Hippo, her best friend and constant companion from day one. Alongside Piggy, her playful archnemesis, and Green Fish, her steadfast little friend, Hippo shared countless adventures and quiet moments with Phoebe, forming a cherished trio that lasted her entire life.
TV time brought her calm—whether it was hockey, commercials, or background noise, she’d often sit close and take it all in, her expression alert yet relaxed. It was one of her favorite forms of family time.
Grant and I took great comfort in knowing that Phoebe would only ever know love—never anger or frustration—just the kind of gentle, patient, and unwavering love that she gave back tenfold.
She gave sixteen years of warmth, companionship, and dignity. Even through the routines of medicine, special diets, and the quiet challenges of age, Phoebe remained steady and graceful, always herself.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hayk, Dr. Madeline, and the dedicated staff at the Urban Animal Hospital for their compassionate care and support throughout Phoebe’s life and especially during her final days.
We’re especially grateful to those who helped care for her at home, especially Gaby, whose kindness and patience meant so much in Phoebe’s final chapter.
A special thank you to Lifting Stars Veterinary Homecare for their care, patience, and understanding in this challenging time. Your compassion made an impossible moment more bearable, and we are deeply thankful.
Phoebe leaves behind an unfillable space—but also countless memories, a legacy of love, and echoes of soft paws padding across the floor. She will live on in every sunbeam, every quiet evening, and every soft rustle of a blanket.
We can still hear Phoebs—the gentle scratching, the rush of her paws in the hallway, the quiet dart from room to room.
Praise the Lord for the love she gave and received.
Rest peacefully, sweet Phoebs. You were, and always will be, our baby.
With love,
Alan & Grant
For those who stuck through and read this whole obituary:
Please consider reaching out to your local SPCA and donating—whether it’s your time, some food (especially wet food), or a bit of money (enough to get a tax receipt—but that’s not the point, as that part is minimal). The change you can make in the life of an animal is immeasurable
