Dr. Emilia grew up in the United States and received her DVM from the University of California, Davis in 2005. She worked in general practice for 6 years in California and Vancouver, and has otherwise spent most of her career supporting animals in shelters and rescues, including 8 years at the BC SPCA. In addition to her work with Lifting Stars, she provides mobile and consulting services to animal shelters, rescues, and university programs.
Dr. Emilia was drawn to animals from a young age and has a special interest in the human-animal bond, behaviour, and internal medicine. She joined Lifting Stars in 2025 and feels grateful to be able to support families with peaceful end-of-life in their homes where they are most comfortable. She believes an animal’s last days at home are just as important as their first days.
Outside of work, Dr. Emilia enjoys spending time with her partner, daughter, and two cats Cooper and Coral as well as gardening and reading.
